NUJ collaborates with IOM on migration reporting

The President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdul, has welcomed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the NUJ and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to improve the quality of migration reporting in Nigeria.

The MoU signed in Abuja aimed at giving journalists ample opportunities to gather relevant information and data, and to disseminate migration news stories accurately and responsibly.

The Chief of Mission of IOM Nigeria Ms. Sharon Dimanche, placed emphasis on the need for effective communication, and accurate, balanced, and responsible reporting on migration for the media audience.

 During an interactive session at the event, journalists had the opportunity to engage with IOM representatives on social, economic, capacity-building, development, and migration-related matters." during an interactive session, providing room for questions and further clarifications on migration-related matters.
