Advertising Practitioners Association (APA) present a leadership award to ARCON Director General

The Advertising Practitioners Association (APA) Southern Region in Nigeria has presented a leadership award to the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo on Thursday, August 20, 2026 during the Southern Regional Advertising Conference themed “Regulatory Compliance And Its Challenges” held at the Ibom Hotel & Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The Director of ARCON, Southern Region, Mrs Martha U. Onyebuchi, frpa who doubled as the Chairperson planning committee for the southern regional inaugural advertising conference presented the award to the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo on behalf of the Advertising Practitioners Association (APA).

She affirmed that the Advertising Practitioners Association (APA) recognized the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, with an award for the pivotal transitional leadership role he continues to play in advertising regulation and compliance.

In his welcome address at the conference, the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, noted that the conference aimed at meaningful deliberations and the utilization of actionable recommendations to improve advertising regulation and compliance while safeguarding public confidence.

Swearing in the executive members of state chapters of Advertising Practitioners Association (APA) across southern Nigeria at the conference, the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, called on the executives to discharge their duties professionally.

He advised advertising practitioners in Nigeria to join the International Advertising Association (IAA) with a view to enhancing international advertising opportunities through membership registration.

Speaking on the proliferation of deceptive digital content and artificial intelligence (AI)-generated manipulations at the conference, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umana, called for stronger punitive mechanisms against abuses in the digital advertising space

Representatives of government, academia, students and professionals from various fields participated in the maiden southern regional advertising conference.
