NSCDC intercepts fake fruit juice factory using fake NAFDAC number 01-2166L in Badagry

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command has intercepted fake “Barkas Juice” factory in Badagry using fake NAFDAC number 01-2166L on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Adedotun Keshinro, signaled that NSCDC will collaborate with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and other relevant authorities to ensure that the suspects were investigated and prosecuted in line with the law.

The NSCDC Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin disclosed that the NSCDC monitored the location of the fake “Barkas Juice” factory for about five days before launching a raid, securing support from the Nigerian Army after local youths allegedly attempted to resist the operation.

Reports indicate that the fake juice products were manufactured under unhygienic conditions and allegedly distributed to markets in Lagos, Benin City, and other parts of Nigeria.

Two women, aged 48 and 50, were apprehended during the operation. The alleged owner of the fake 'Barkas Juice' factory, a 48-year-old woman, reportedly stated that she inherited the business from her grandmother about 20 years ago.
